Mari will be cooking from ANNA Magazine’s Holiday Issue 17, called Hope. In it, Mari sketched an idea for a holiday collaboration with DeNardi, Winnipeg’s specialty Italian Market. And it came together in the most beautiful way. The timeless images above were created and styled by Mari and the ANNA Magazine team.

Many of the dishes used were carefully chosen from Maria DeNardi’s own collection, gifted to her by her mother and grandmother. Each special recipe was chosen by Maria DeNardi, as part of her own personal repertoire.

  • Starter
    Holiday extravaganza dip
    Zucchini fritters

Don’t let these simple titles fool you. These recipes are both sensational – crispy, savoury and delicious, and ones you will turn to again and again.

  • Main Course
Chopped baby kale salad with cranberries and pine nuts
    Wild mushroom truffle risotto
Prime rib of beef with red wine reduction

The chopped Kale Salad was recently named the best salad in Toronto, so Mari is recreating it here for the special dinner. Risotto is considered to be a difficult dish to cook, here Mari makes it easy. Drizzled with truffle oil this recipe will leave you dreaming and longing for more. Paired with a stunning prime rib with red wine reduction to become your holiday go-to.

  • Dessert
    Zabaglione with fresh strawberries

Zabaglione is a delicate dessert that originated in Piedmont, Italy. This recipe dates back to the 16th century, when a monk in a monastery was beating eggs with sugar one day, he couldn’t manage to make them fluffy. Rather than wasting it, he added a sweet wine and turned it into this now famous Italian dessert. Here, served with the famous imperial cookie it is exceptional and easy to make.

  • All recipes will be sent to guests the following day via email. Make sure to add info@annamagazine.ca to your contact list, or it may end up in your junk box.

  • Add the collectible printed ANNA Magazine, Issue 17 HOPE to your order on the next page and it will be delivered to you at the event.
