When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore! I can't help myself, this pizza is outstanding! My friend Alana mentioned it was the best she had ever had! Use the best ingredients and yes anchovies, incredible, you'll need a good bottle of red for this one!

A pizza is only as good as its ingredients and these ingredients speak for themselves. Make it good and saucy, cheese on the bottom and generously layer on the ingredients. Refer to our Italian Pantry Essentials for our recommendations.

For gluten free, swap the crust for a good store-bought gluten free option, the rest is 100% gluten free.

For vegetarian, this recipe is deal, depending on your preference you may wish to leave off the anchovies.

Pizza with anchovies, black olives and capers

  • 1 pizza dough, see recipe here

  • 6 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce, see recipe here

  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 10 anchovies
  • 1 1/2 cups black olives
  • 1/4 cup capers
  • Basil leaves, torn


Preheat oven to 400ºF. Roll dough balls into 10 to 11-inch rounds. Transfer each to parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle each with olive oil and top with sauce. Top with cheese; then arrange the anchovies, olives and capers on top. Bake for 15 minutes or until the crusts are crisp and tops golden. Top with basil leaves.
