Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, oil and eggs; pour over dry ingredients and stir until rough ball forms.

Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Knead until dough holds together. Form into ball. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Score top with knife. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until skewer inserted comes out clean. Let cool slightly before cutting.
