Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
These are absolutely the most delicious chocolate chip cookies we have made yet! Soft and chewy with a perfect balance of salt and sugar.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
1 cup salted butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups milk chocolate chips
1 teaspoon Maldon sea salt
In medium bowl whisk together flour, baking soda and fine sea salt. Set aside.
Combine butter and sugars in bowl of stand mixer. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually incorporate flour mixture, then stop mixer and add chocolate chips and mix again just to combine. Remove dough and wrap with plastic wrap.
Refrigerate wrapped dough for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375° F. Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls onto parchment-lined baking sheets 2" apart. Sprinkle with sea salt and bake 8 minutes. Cookies are done when just golden.
Note: I like to undercook the cookies slightly at 8 minutes, however if you wish to bake another 2 minutes feel free to test the difference for yourself. Sea salt is simply unprocessed natural salt from the sea, and it is my default in all cooking and baking. Maldon is the flakey beautiful salt used for finishing.
